Onsemi has launched an extensive power solution that targets data centre efficiency in the current climate. The new technology based on the T10 PowerTrench® family and EliteSiC 650V MOSFETs is expected to operate with the minimum power consumption level and can save up to 10 TWh per year.
This new idea is perfect for data centres because they have to use more power as AI workloads are expanding. This new idea can cut energy conversion losses by quite a bit, which would save 10 TWh per year, which is enough to power almost a million homes.
Compared to standard alternatives, the EliteSiC 650V MOSFETs provide improved switching characteristics, lower device capacitances, and increased efficiency, lowering overall system costs.
On the other hand, the T10 PowerTrench Family, with up to 3A rated current, improves thermal management, and miniaturised designs to meet the demands of hyperscale data applications such as Open Rack V3 (ORV3).
Simon Keeton, group president of Onsemi’s Power Solutions Group, further mentioned the solution’s centrality in coping with increasing power requirements while enabling technological developments in AI and electrification.
Hence, this project highlights how Onsemi is committed to creating the future while being socially responsible through innovation in power semiconductors.
