A Landmark Collaboration to Enhance Global Connectivity
The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has recently established a significant alliance with SEMI, a prominent global semiconductor industry association with a membership base exceeding 3,000 companies. This partnership was formalized in Bengaluru through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at elevating India’s position in the global semiconductor landscape.
Integrating India into the Global Semiconductor Supply Chain
This strategic union seeks to integrate Indian businesses and stakeholders more deeply into the global semiconductor supply chain, with targeted efforts in manufacturing, policy shaping, design, skill development, research and development, and supply chain enhancements. The first major initiative under this alliance will be the joint hosting of the SEMICON 2024 event in September, marking the beginning of what is anticipated to be a durable partnership.
Leadership Perspectives on the Strategic Alliance
Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, expressed his optimism regarding the partnership, foreseeing India’s ascension as a powerhouse in global semiconductor manufacturing and design. On the domestic front, Ashok Chandak, President of IESA, together with Chairperson Dr. Veerappan, stressed the significance of this alliance in driving forward India’s semiconductor sector through global collaboration.
Building Bridges: Connecting Stakeholders for Growth
The partnership aims to bridge connections between various domestic stakeholders—government, industry, and academia—and their global counterparts in the semiconductor field. This collaboration is poised to foster new partnerships and aid in the cultivation of talent.
